How long does a memecoin pump last? When the high came after the first scan
"How long do pumps last?" usually gets an answer like "minutes to days". That is true and useless. Whodl can say something more specific, because after each coin's first scan it goes back and checks the price five times: after 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, 3 days and 7 days.
What was measured
For every coin with all five checks complete, Whodl looks at which check saw the highest price. That is a coarse stand-in for "when the peak came": a high between two checks is missed, so read these as "by roughly this point" rather than to the minute.
Across not enough data yet coins with all five checks:
| The highest checked price came | Share of coins |
|---|---|
| At the 1 hour check | not enough data yet |
| By the 6 hour check | not enough data yet |
| By the 24 hour check | not enough data yet |
| At the 3 or 7 day check | not enough data yet |
A week after the first scan, the median coin's price had changed by not enough data yet, and not enough data yet were higher than at the scan. Within the first 24 hours, the median coin's highest point was not enough data yet above the scan price.
Why the first scan matters
These numbers start from when someone first asked Whodl about a coin, not from launch. People ask about coins that are already moving or being talked about. So the table answers a practical question: once a coin is getting attention, how long does the move usually keep going?
What shortens a run
The same reports show what tends to be true of coins whose high came early:
- Concentrated supply. When the top 10 hold a large share, a few sellers can end the move.
- Bundles and snipers still holding. Supply bought in the same block or in the first seconds is cheap supply; see how much bundled supply is normal.
- Late arrivals. When most top wallets arrived in the last day and are already in profit, the coin is further along its run. Whodl's Timing score weighs exactly this.
What it does not tell you
These are averages over many coins. A single coin does what its wallets do. Use the numbers to set expectations ("most moves I see are already near their high by the next day") and the coin's own report to see who is holding right now.
